Some Information about Katie Hogan

Crossfit Level 1 Trainer

USAW Sports Performance Coach
CrossFit Kids Trainer
Katie Hogan is a lifelong athlete, who has participated in a variety of individual and team sports from gymnastics to karate to softball. She started weightlifting her freshman year of high school, learning the power lifts and olympic lifts from experienced strength coaches. In college at UCSD, she was an NCAA Div II athlete in Volleyball and Track & Field, receiving All-American honors in both sports. Katie began personal training in 2005 and while she enjoyed helping people improve, training sessions rarely got her excited.  Hogan was frustrated with the monotony of the globo-gym workouts and the spa-treatment of the fitness studios she worked at. It wasn’t until she found Crossfit in 2008 that she was re-inspired as an athlete and coach. She is a member and coach at Valley Crossfit in Van Nuys, CA, where she has gained friendships and a team (family) that has both supported and challenged her day after day. She has found a new sport to compete in and participated in the 2009 CrossFit Games, where she placed 18th overall, as well as the 2011 CrossFit Games, where she placed 20th overall. In other words, we’re talking about the 20th fittest woman in the world! In Katie’s words, ” After participating in the 2009 Crossfit Games, I couldn’t wait for the next chance to compete at Crossfit. The Crossfit Games is something I look forward to and train hard for all year-long. Every day, every class, every time I step in the gym I am working to better myself and raise my level to that of my peers. It’s challenging, exhausting, and painful, but I always come back because ultimately I know where I want to be and I know what it will take to get there.” Katie took first place in the 2010 CrossFit/USA Weightlifting Championship with a body weight snatch and two hundred pound clean and jerk.

Bio from 2011 Crossfit Games site:
Can you spell d-o-m-i-n-a-t-i-o-n? Katie Hogan led the Southern California Regional from beginning to end, tying Rebecca Voigt with 15 points overall at the end of the weekend. Katie made it through the thruster ladder alongside fellow Valley CrossFitter, Lindsey Valenzuela, and then went on to do what no other woman had — Katie thrustered 190 pounds, to set the world record and a five-pound personal record. Later, Katie showed that she’s not “just strong” … she’s fit. Katie won the 100s workout, a full 1:56 ahead of 2nd place finisher Becca Voigt. This will be Katie’s first time back to the Games after a one year break. She took 18th place at the 2009 Games.
